Children & Adolescence Therapy
Jennifer specializes in children and adolescence by using play therapy and creative activities to establish a safe and welcoming environment. Jennifer has experience running teen groups which discuss the issues of eating disorders, self-harm, anxiety, bullying, peer issues, family issues and personal empowerment.
Jennifer uses an eclectic approach to counselling. She uses Cognitive Behavioural Counselling (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).Often talking about our issues to a trusting, non-judgemental person who is not our family member or friend can really help us. It is cathartic to let out our emotions that perhaps others do not understand or you may not feel comfortable saying out loud. Individuals seek counselling when they are under work stress, family issues, self-esteem issues, experience depression and anxiety. Jennifer helps individuals find their path and guide them to self discovery through therapeutic techniques. Counselling is not a quick fix. It is an organic process that takes time and patience but can provide long lasting improvements in one’s life.
Motor Vehicle/WSIB Accident Assessments
Being in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) or a workplace injury/traumatic event often brings out a lot of mental emotions which can have a powerful effect on your life. After a traumatic event such as a car accident or a workplace incident, you may experience post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, a loss of sense of self, lowered quality of life and financial issues. Jennifer is trained to provide comprehensive assessments which indicate the effects to an individual’s overall functioning following an accident. After completing assessments, Jennifer can recommend treatment of psychotherapy. Motor vehicle accident/WSIB assessments are administered under the clinical supervision of Dr. Jon Mills who is a registered Psychologist.
